Your Habits Shape Your Life

What you do consistently determines who you become. If your habits aren’t supporting your growth, they’re holding you back. The following are common habits that, if unchecked, can sap your happiness and peace of mind.

Focusing on How Life “Should” Be

It’s easy to get caught up in frustration when life doesn’t go as planned. However, frustration can be a tool to drive you forward rather than hold you back. You control your perspective, not the events that happen. When anger arises, look for the lesson. If envy creeps in, choose admiration instead. In moments of worry, take action. When doubt overwhelms you, have faith. Your response is always more powerful than the situation. While some circumstances are out of your control, most of your life is shaped by how you react to those situations. Your final destination depends on how you play the cards you’re dealt.

Wanting to Control the Uncontrollable

We often waste energy trying to change things beyond our control. Instead, focus your energy wisely. If you can solve a problem, do so. If not, accept it and shift your mindset. Don’t waste energy dwelling on the past or on situations that exist only in your imagination. Letting go of what you cannot change is a powerful skill that leads to personal growth. When faced with something you can’t alter, the challenge is to change yourself. This shift in mindset can transform your entire outlook.
