They taught that doing good would lead to a reward in heaven, while bad deeds would result in punishment in hell. This method was a combination of hope and fear, designed to encourage good behaviour and discourage wrongdoing. However, with the growth of scientific knowledge, one must wonder how long this approach will continue to be relevant.
