**The Value of Detachment from Worldly Possessions**
If we choose to forgo all the *valuable worldly possessions*, we will attain the one who is *priceless*: the divine.
**A Thief's Story**
In a village, there lived a notorious thief who had stolen from almost every place. His actions caused great suffering among the villagers, who eventually complained to the king. The thief had evaded capture for a long time, so the king announced a reward of five lakh rupees for anyone who could catch him. One day, when the minister was out searching, the thief was caught off guard and trapped.
**The Minister's Plan**
The minister devised a clever plan. He told the thief, "The king has offered five lakh rupees for your capture. However, if you act according to my instructions, I will give you twenty lakh rupees and ensure your escape." The thief agreed to this proposal. The minister disguised the thief by adorning him with holy ash and rudraksha beads, making him look like a saint. He then instructed him, "Sit quietly under this tree. When the king comes and offers you something, refuse it. Eventually, he will offer you half his kingdom. Accept it and give it to me, and I will reward you with twenty lakh rupees."
