A strong core is essential for overall fitness, as it forms the foundation of your body’s strength and stability. With a well-conditioned core, you’ll not only move more freely but also prevent injuries, maintain balance, and support everyday activities more efficiently. Here are four effective workouts to help you build a rock-solid core.

Hundreds

The Hundreds exercise is a Pilates classic that effectively engages your core muscles. To begin, lie flat on your back with your feet on the floor and knees bent. Then, lift your legs into a tabletop position and hover your arms above the floor. Pull your belly button in toward your spine to engage your core, then lift your head, shoulders, and neck slightly off the ground. Begin pulsing your arms up and down as you extend your legs to a 45-degree angle.

Beginners: Perform 50 pulses, taking deep inhales and exhales every 10 pulses.

Advanced Level: Complete 100 pulses, focusing on steady breathing every 10 pulses.

This exercise strengthens not only your core but also your breathing control, making it ideal for core stability.

Plank

The plank is one of the most effective exercises for core strength and endurance. Start on the floor with your forearms and knees on the ground, keeping your feet and knees together. Straighten your knees so your body forms a straight line from head to heels. Keep your core muscles tight throughout.
